Description

Mell Lazarus Momma Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-16-73 (Field Enterprises, 1973). Momma, Lazarus' long-running exercise in maternal sarcasm, dispenses universal truths about family life with every episode. This piece gives title character Sonja Hobbs a break from her usual routine of dealing with her annoying offspring -- and confronts her, instead, with an annoying gentleman caller. She was "based partly on Mell's mother, Frances," according to syndicate publicity. However, Lazarus has maintained that Momma reflects "everyone's mother." This ink-on-bond-paper example has an image area of 15" x 4.25" and is in Excellent condition. Signed and inscribed.
