Marvel Comics Artist The Amazing Spider-Man Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 4-12-86 (Marvel Comics/Register & Tribune Syndicate, 1986). An emotionally turbulent soap-opera scene from the tenured superhero feature. Peter "Spider-Man" Parker vows to give up his costumed identity if Mary Jane Watson will marry him. She has other, more complicated, ideas. Unusual in that the strip features only the signature of writer Stan Lee, and is missing the customary Marvel Comics/syndicate copyright notice. The stated date (Saturday, April 12, as penciled in upper left margin) matches up with 1986 and its marriage-proposal plot, during a period when the official art assignment transitioned from Fred Kida to Larry Leiber. The ink line, thinner than the signature brushwork of either artist, suggests an additional or alternate hand. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12.75" x 4.5". Marginal staining and handling wear. Very Good condition.
