Description

Mac Raboy Flash Gordon Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 6-14-64 (King Features Syndicate, 1964). Mac Raboy was an artists' artist and one of the early practitioners of a realistic and naturalistic style that was a watershed moment for the Golden Age of comics. Toward the end of his career, he turned to Flash Gordon, taking the strip over from his hero Alex Raymond. Raboy's impeccable figure drawing and dynamic storytelling perfectly complemented the tone of the strip and remains a high water mark to this day. This Sunday strip from the "Dark Sun of Dragor" storyline finds Flash goading the dinosauric Plain-Beast into battering the walls of the alien fortress to create an entrance. Produced in ink over graphite on heavy illustration board with an image area of 19.25" x 13". The board is heavily toned, with moderate edge and corner wear. The pasteup logo is discolored, as is the syndicate strip. Overall in Very Good condition.
