Mac Raboy Flash Gordon Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-16-64 (King Features Syndicate, 1964). Flash's sleek, streamlined rocket bursts onto the scene in a stellar first panel, but danger is already aboard. Flash tries to warn Dale Arden, but it's too late: the murderous Breen brothers have stowed away on his ship, and now Dale and Miki are staring down the barrel of a gun. Artist Mac Raboy, who got his big break on Captain Marvel Jr. in the 1940s, eventually took over the Flash Gordon Sunday strip from his idol Alex Raymond. With his elegant, feathery inking and meticulous detail, Raboy ensured the iconic sci-fi saga soared on without missing a beat. Ink over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 19.25" x 13". Toning, moisture staining along top tier including stat logo paste-up, abrasions in Panels 2 and 5, smudging, blue pencil editorial notes/marks, edge wear, corner bumps, whiteout touch-ups, creasing in lower left corner panel, marginal pinholes, and handling wear.
