Description
Ken Kling Joe and Asbestos Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-18 (Bell Syndicate, c. 1940s). A unique comic strip: Joe and Asbestos portrayed the horse-racing world, and each daily strip predicted the winner of a real-world race on that very day. An amazing rate of accuracy made the feature lucrative for its syndicate. The blank space in Panel #2 was reserved for the insertion of a horse's name. The blank Panel #1 was reserved for the insertion of a logo. Also notable for the portrayal of an African-American character as a co-star. Ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board. Image area, 22.5" x 5.75". Light tanning. Staining on pasted art repair at right. Generally Very Good condition.More information about Ken Kling. See also: Kling, Ken Artist.
