Description
Ken Kling Joe and Asbestos Daily Comic Strip dated 4-21 Original Art (New York Mirror, c. 1930s-40s). This lively anomaly breaks Kling's rule of presenting a horse-racing tip with each episode. Instead, co-star Asbestos attempts to persuade his championship horse, Shrimpie, to help end a strike among the racehorses. The strip had started as Joe Quince -- re-titled Joe and Asbestos in 1924 -- and became notorious for publishing real-world gambling tips for its local marketplace, with remarkable accuracy. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. 16.25" x 5.75". Moderate toning and adhesive staining. Very Good condition.More information about Ken Kling. See also: Kling, Ken Artist.
