Description

Ken Kling Joe and Asbestos Daily Comic Strip dated 12-29 Original Art (New York Mirror, year unknown). This lively anomaly breaks Kling's rule of presenting a horse-racing tip with each episode. Kling does slip in a few possible references to horse names, such as Lockjaw, Tipster, and Mid-Night. The strip had started as Joe Quince -- re-titled Joe and Asbestos in 1924 -- and became notorious at the time for publishing real-world gambling tips for its local marketplace, with remarkable accuracy. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 22.5" x 6". Moderate toning. Very Good condition.
