Description

Jorge Longaron Friday Foster Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-17-70 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1970). High-fashion model Friday Foster finds herself in a bind -- under threat of a firing by one photographer-boss but tempted by an outside offer. Heavy-duty Deco/Pop Art glamour, here, with fashions and furnishings to complete the avant-garde atmosphere. Seen here in its early stages, the trailblazing African-American adventure strip had already gathered sufficient momentum to rank among the finer mystery-and-intrigue features, at a time when narrative-continuity comics were in general decline. Within a few years, the title character would inspire a feature-length motion picture starring Pam Grier. Longaron's artwork has a cinematic momentum all its own. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 16.5" x 5". Light toning and marginal markings. Two patches of loosened/missing lettering. Intact, however, and in Very Good condition.
