Description
Irwin Hasen Dondi Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 2 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1955). From early in the run of Hasen and Gus Edson's war-orphan feature: Consecutive episodes in which two veterans ponder a future in America for Dondi. Although Hasen's style would evolve to a more Impressionistic quality during the 1960s, these examples catch him in a thoroughly realistic (slightly caricatured) mode -- recognizably the same artist who had defined the look of the 1940s' Green Lantern stories. The strips cover 11-15-55 and 11-16-55. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 19.75" x 6". Strips are toned, with marginal scuffing.
