Harvey Eisenberg Yogi Bear Sunday Newspaper Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-13-61 (Hanna-Barbera/McNaught Syndicate, 1961). Yogi becomes "Chief Rain-in-Face" when he subs for an ailing Indian rain dancer, in this early Sunday. After Yogi Bear graduated from the Huckleberry Hound Show to his own show in January, of 1961, a daily and Sunday newspaper comic strip was launched to help promote the series. Harvey Eisenberg (1911 - 1965) was the first artist assigned to these strips. Initially, eight newspapers carried the strip, including the New York Herald. This ink over blue pencil original, numbered 30 in the upper left corner, is drawn on a large sheet of Bristol board, with an image area of 24.25" x 17.5". Good condition with some edge tears, toning, and handling wear.
