    Description

Harold Gray Little Orphan Annie Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-6-66 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1966). This unnerving large-scale episode confronts Annie Warbucks with some no-goodniks. Tense and impeccably well-drawn in Gray's customary ink-over-graphite technique on Bristol board. Unusual use of blade-scratching to create white highlights. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 25.5" x 17". Each panel has been glued to a large backing board (a syndicate custom), with art extending the panels onto the support board. The results is residue, staining, and loose panels. Brittle edges, toning, and handling wear. Good condition. From the Tex Blaisdell Archives.
