Description

Hal Foster Tarzan Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-5-33 (King Features Syndicate, 1933). Tarzan gets ready to face the "Waters of Death" in this lush Sunday by the legendary artist Hal Foster. Foster is most-known for illustrating his creation Prince Valiant, however his Tarzan work set the bar for other artists. His attention to detail creates amazing images... check out the crocodile lashed to a tree as bait to lure the other crocs in for the ceremony. Crafted at a very large scale (a Hal Foster trademark) in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 19.5" x 26.5". The board has pinholes in the margins, with corner and overall handling wear. The logo is a stat paste-up with a bit of glue residue near it. The bottom left margin is chipped and broken, but not quite into the image area. Overall, the piece is in Very Good condition. From A Collection of Great Cartoonists and Illustrators.
