    Description

Hal Foster Prince Valiant Sunday Comic Strip #241 Original Art dated 9-21-41 (King Features Syndicate, 1941). Just the second 1941 example we've ever offered, and you can count the ones from earlier years on one hand! A stunning center panel of the Magus Belsatan as he battles through the storm he himself created. Thanks to his maneuvering, he's a bachelor by the end of the scene, and dances a jig celebrating being without a nagging wife! And Val is a pawn in his game. Look at the way Foster handles light and shadow throughout and you'll see why so many artists idolize him. This piece has an image area of 26" x 35". The three tiers are separate pieces of board, all taped to the matte. Typical wear with a couple of hard creases in the center tier only visible from the back of the piece. The Val and Belsatan heads next to the logo are stats, as one would expect. Very Good condition. From A Collection of Great Cartoonists and Illustrators.
