Hal Foster Prince Valiant #310 Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-17-43 (King Features Syndicate, 1943). This grand and glorious page is a perfect example of Foster's amazing skill with detailed art, as every single one of these huge panels is a stand-alone work of art!This Sunday, titled "When Thieves Fall Out", allows Prince Valiant to display his cunning over his battle skills. He has pitted two enemy armies against each other, and thus saved his own army an unnecessary battle! The nine panels are approximately 8.5" x 10" each, and showcase Foster's storytelling pacing skills, along with his details backgrounds, gorgeous close-up portrait work, and lush inking on the clothing. Created in ink over graphite on two conjoined sheets of Bristol board with a combined image area of 26" x 34". The header/logo is a stat paste-up. The "Next: Visions of Aleta" banner in the last panel is a hand-lettered paste-up; however, part of it is missing. Signed by Foster in the top right of the last panel. Toned and in Very Good condition. From the Jack Kent Collection.
