    Description

Hal Foster Prince Valiant #1337 Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-23-62 (King Features Syndicate, 1962). Foster's enormous scale makes his already impressive work really jump off the page at you! This Sunday, titled "Tribute", features Prince Val and an Abbot as they follow a path of destruction. A note on the inscription to Kay and Harry Mace: Mr. Mace was a gag cartoonist, and the couple -- like Foster, residents of Redding, CT -- collaborated on some well-remembered children's books. This piece was created in ink and red ink key lines on two sheets of Bristol board with a combined image area of 23" x 33.5". The logo is a discolored paste-up, and all text is hand-lettered paste-up. Signed in the last panel, and personalized and signed in Panel 5. The two board sections are joined by tape on the reverse side. In Excellent condition.
