    Description

Gladys Parker Mopsy Daily Single-Panel Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-22-65 (Bell-McClure Syndicate, 1965). Parker brilliantly combines Good Girl Art with an erotically liberated Feminist attitude, defiant and sexy in equal measure. Parker also retained a youthful and ornery attitude -- she delivered this bright gag at age 55 -- that anticipated the larger Feminist Movement of a few years later. Beautifully drawn, with an intense contrast between the slender pen-line work and the densely blackened areas. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 8.25" x 9.5". Light toning and marginal scribbles. Very Good condition.
