Gene Ahern Room and Board Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 7-4-37 (King Features Syndicate, 1937). Ahern, creator of Our Boarding House and its resident blowhard, Major Amos Hoople, abandoned that classic when he moved to King Features in 1936. But then he created Room and Board starring Judge Puffle -- very much in the Hoople tradition. Room and Board is vintage Ahern, and Judge Puffle's self-glorifying tall tales are every bit as entertaining and full of baloney as Major Hoople's. Ink over graphite on Bristol board.
