Description

Garry Trudeau Doonesbury Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-23-97 (Universal Press Syndicate, 1997). The peaceful household of reporter Rick Redfern and activist Joanie Caucus is disrupted by their irritable teen-age offspring, who has a surly response for every occasion. The subtext makes an admiring reference to Presidential daughter Chelsea Clinton. A brilliant interlude from one of the longest-running and most admired socio-political features, which takes a cue from Gasoline Alley's innovative narrative tactic of having the characters age in real time. Large-scale Sunday strips such as this one rarely turn up in such near-pristine condition. Ink on Bristol board. Image area, 21" x 14.25". Excellent condition.
