Description

Fred Thomas Poor George Comic Strip Auditions Group of 20 (c. 1970s). Thomas' prolific output and relentless comical streak qualify him as a gagman in the classic tradition. He is better known for a seemingly endless stream of magazine cartoons, and a sporting strip called Long Shots, but Thomas seems to have found a new wellspring of humor in Poor George, an attempted feature poking fun at the onslaught of middle age. These tryout strips, including the cast identification and size comparison sheet, boast witty writing and clean, economical artwork. Includes are the strips numbered 1-5 and 11-24. Done in felt marker over graphite on heavyweight illustration board. The image areas average 14" x 5". Light marginal spotting and minimal smudging. Excellent condition.
