    Description

Franklin Collier and Others The Spirit of Spring and Additional Jazz-Age Comics and Gags Original Art Group of 3 (1920s). Boston-based Collier, a master of ridicule, takes a cynically funny look at springtime weather and its aftershocks. A recurring character, a little kid in a big hat, is Collier's recurring signature personality, Otto Grow. A contemporary, William Ely Hill, offers a jazzy cat cartoon, originally published in Among Us Cats (1926). And Sals Bostwick contributes a one-panel comedy of manners for the 9-12-29 installment of the long-running strip Room and Board, featuring a Major Hoople-like character named Windy. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Marginal notes in Collier's handwriting. Image areas range from 9" x 10" to 12" x 12.5". Moderate age-toning and marginal scuffing/staining. Very Good condition overall.
