Description

Frank Willard and Ferd Johnson Moon Mullins Daily Comic Strip Original dated 1-12-50 (News Syndicate Co., Inc., 1950). Willard and longtime assistant Johnson manage a double-punchline in this spirited episode, from an extended continuity in which two gangsters abduct an indignant Lord Plushbottom. One plug-ugly thug gives Emmy Schmaltz (Lady Plushbottom) a scare by barging into her bedroom unannounced. He then remarks that "that pan of hers wasn't no nerve tonic to me." Johnson's heavy-duty inking lends gravity and momentum. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 20" x 6". Light toning. Excellent condition.
