    Description

Frank Smith Donald Duck Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 10/27/80 Signed by Carl Barks (King Features Syndicate, 1980). Uncle Scrooge has pushed poor overworked Donald a little too far, in this original daily. Uncle Scrooge McDuck was the creation of perhaps the greatest Disney Duck comic book artist of all time, Carl Barks (1901 - 2000). Around 1997, a sharp-eyed Disney Studios "cast member" (employee) noticed that a large amount of Donald Duck comic strip art was being thrown out, and promptly made arrangements to pull all the strips featuring Uncle Scrooge. He then traveled to the home of Mr. Barks, who agreed to sign the artboards -- but not before he read each and every one! To properly display the art, a custom mat was designed with printed remarques of bags of money in the lower left, and a pickaxe with glittering rocks (symbolizing Scrooge's first fortune, made from gold prospecting in Alaska) in the lower right. The art is in ink over blue pencil underdrawings with Zipatone shading film on Bristol board, with an image size of 19" x 5.5". Mr. Barks boldly hand-signed the last panel in black marker. The matted art is framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 30.5" x 15.75". Frame is sold as-is. A Disney COA is included on back of the frame. Slight toning of the shading film; overall Excellent condition.
