Description

Frank King Bobby Make-Believe Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-6-18 (Chicago Tribune, c. 1918). Famed for creating the incredibly long-running strip Gasoline Alley, King's previous Sunday feature, Bobby Make-Believe, ran during WWI. The reference to sailing "right over the war zone" here is almost ironic as the first World War ended on November 11, 1918... just over a month later. This piece is produced in ink over graphite with watercolors on Bristol board with an image area of 20" x 27". With tanning, it is otherwise in Excellent condition. A remarkable find for such an old strip! From the Allan Holtz Collection.
