Description

Ernie Bushmiller Nancy Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-16-47 (United Feature Syndicate, 1947). A deliveryman shows up with a mutilated package marked "Perishable." Never one to miss an opportunity for some wordplay, Nancy Ritz alters the label ever so slightly. Classic simplicity of design from a master of the three-second punchline. A highlight from Bushmiller's extended peak stretch of the 1940s-1950s. The facial expressions are priceless. Several ink lines at the upper edge show where Bushmiller tested his pen-point before applying it to the pencil drawings. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 19" x 5". Light toning, more pronounced at edges. Excellent condition.
