Description

Elzie Segar Thimble Theatre Starring Popeye Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-15-35 (King Features Syndicate, 1935). Popeye is a kissing fool in this unusual Sunday that ends with his classic credo, "I yam what I yam and tha's all I yam!" And no, that's not Olive Oyl getting smacked by Popeye, who is testing her man's ability to keep his jealous tenancies in check. We're sure a few kids were not entertained by all this "mushy stuff," but the page is a hoot for the grownups, and a real treat for fans of Segar. The art is in ink over graphite on board, with an approximate image area of 20.25" x 21.25"; it's been matted and framed with glass for an overall size of 30.75" x 32".There are a few very minor stains and one small tear along the right side; otherwise, the piece appears to be in Excellent condition.
