Description

Edmond Good Knight Masters Daily Comic Strip Pilot (Unpublished) Original Art Group of 8 Good had created the Rex Baxter feature for Bell Publishing, drawn the Scorchy Smith strip, and helped to introduce DC Comics' Tomahawk serial. The artist envisioned bigger things with this promising set of tryout strips. Knight Masters is a detective specializing in supernatural cases -- in this case, a Voodoo menace -- in the tradition of Seabury Quinn's Jules De Grandin stories or William Hope Hodgson's Carnacki the Ghost-Finder. The pitch failed, but these examples endure as impressive monuments to a series that might have been. (An eighth piece is a fragmentary strip, drawn in pencil.) Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 20.25" x 5". Moderate to pronounced toning and adhesive staining. Good to Very Good condition.
