Description

Dick Sprang and Charles Paris (signing as Bob Kane) Batman Daily Christmas Day Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-25-46 (McClure Syndicate, 1946). Sprang began ghosting the Batman feature for DC Comics in 1941. He inked his own work until 1945, and after a stint by Gene MacDonald as inker, Charles Paris took over, as in this fine example, and became known as one of the greatest Batman inkers of all time, with Sprang being considered by many to be the ultimate illustrator of the Dark Knight Detective! Sprang Batman dailies are extremely rare, with only a handful of examples known to exist. The image area of this ink over graphite strip is approximately 6.5" x 21.5", and the art, on three conjoined pieces Craftint board, is in Very Good condition, with moderate age toning, handling wear, tape and paper residue along the bottom (in the extended area), and some light marginal overlap of chemical-shading. Don't let this rare chance to own a vintage original Bat-piece fly away.
