Description

David Wright Carol Day Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 2 (London Daily Mail, 1960). Creepy rich loafer Oswald Patcham insists upon posing for a portrait in an inappropriate military uniform -- hardly his style. Meanwhile, his slightly less creepy father formulates a plan to have Oswald (last of a decayed family) marry leading lady Carol Day -- hardly an appropriate match. These episodes (numbered 1059-1060) suggest that illustrator Wright has studied the Tales from the Crypt work of Graham Ingels: Old man Patcham's face looks very like Ingels' style of the pre-Comics Code 1950s. Featuring an ominous cameo from the mysterious Capt. Riker, a guest in the Patcham household. Lovely woodcut-like strokes, here, from a fine crow-quill pen. Image areas, 17" x 5". Moderately toned, with marginal markings and lightly barked corners. In Very Good condition.
