Description

David Wright Carol Day Consecutive Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 4 (London Daily Mail, c. 1960s). A crown jewel of Great Britain's comic-strip tradition, Carol Day is distinguished in particular by Wright's extensive use of crosshatching and pen-line shading to convey emotional depth and deep perspectives in almost a photorealistic manner. Dailies included are numbers 2628, 2629, 2630, and 2631. Richly inked graphite composition on textured illustration board, with painted white highlights. Image area, 17" x 5.25". Light handling wear and toning, text paste-up corrections, edge and corner wear, with adhesive seams on patched-in dialogue balloons. In Very Good condition.
