Darrell McClure Little Annie Rooney Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-4-56 (King Features Syndicate, 1956). Annie Rooney and her pet dog find a benefactor in this beautifully illustrated half-pager. Little Annie Rooney started out as an imitation of Harold Gray's famous Little Orphan Annie but evolved into a more naturalistic and less overtly political feature. This example is exceptional, with just the right touches of sentimentality. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 21.5" x 14.5". The logotype is a printed paste-up with traces of adhesive staining. Otherwise in Excellent condition.Auction Info
