    Description

Dan DeCarlo Willie Lumpkin Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-30-60 (Publishers Syndicate, 1960). Long before he was the star of the 2005 Fantastic Four movie, Willie Lumpkin was a mailman with his own comic strip! (O.k., he wasn't the star of the movie, but don't tell his mother that.) Created by Stan Lee, and with art by Dan DeCarlo, Willie was destined for greatness. Lee wrote him into the Fantastic Four comic book in issue #11, and he made periodic appearances as the mailman for the Baxter Building for decades. This Sunday strip was created in ink over graphite on three strips of conjoined Bristol board with a combined image area of 20.5" x 14". The logo is a stat. There is a rip in the top left, next to the logo. The three boards are joined with tape on the reverse side. There are two missing paste-ups on the toned boards. In Very Good condition.
