Description

Chon Day, Don Tobin, and Others Dateline Magazine and Additional Comics/Gag-Panel Originals Group of 5 (c. 1940s-60s). Day, the great New Yorker cartoonist (among other publications), dominates this generous selection with two of his popular wives-and-money cartoons. Tobin mocks lazy husbands in a 1947 Collier's magazine piece. Jane Spear King clocks in with a 1940s Collier's 'toon. And Tobin (inscribed) mocks rude motorists with a piece that likely ran in Motive magazine, 1967. A delightful array from a fertile period for the panel-gag tradition. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image areas, 8" x 10" to 8.5" x 11". Overall age-toning and handling wear. Very Good condition. From the Allan Holtz Collection.
