Description

Chester Gould The Girl Friends Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-7-31 (Chicago Daily News, 1931). The Girl Friends marked Gould's last attempt at an overtly comical serial, although the artist would insinuate plenty of humor into Tracy as leavening for the prevailing violence. Although the date says 9-7, it was actually published on 9-8 since the Chicago Daily did not publish a newspaper on Labor Day of 1931. Done in ink over graphite with some blue lines on Bristol board, the image area measures 20" x 6". Some light wear along the edges. Very Good condition.
