Chester Gould Dick Tracy Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 2-5-61 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1961). The great charm of Dick Tracy lies in its eccentric weirdness -- a police melodrama with unremittingly evil villains and offbeat supporting characters. From the classic "Little Boy Beard" chapter of 1960-61 comes this confrontation between a creepy old woman, Aunt Soso, and the bearded infant who senses that she harbors cruel intentions. Essential Tracy. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 27" x 18". Each panel of the Sunday is affixed to a backing page, with scattered glue-staining; otherwise, the condition of the art is Very Good. From the Ray Edw Collection.
