    Description

Chester Gould Dick Tracy Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-1-45 (News Syndicate Co., Inc., 1945). A suspenseful episode from Tracy's famous "Breathless Mahoney" serial: Officer Pat Patton summons help for a poisoned Detective Tracy, while fugitives B.O. Plenty and Breathless Mahoney quarrel over a bag of stolen loot. And yes, Plenty had started out as a villainous goof -- well before Gould would transform the hillbilly into a sympathetic comic-relief character. Signed at lower right. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 20" x 6". Moderate toning, more pronounced at edges. Very Good condition. From the Ray Edw Collection.
