Description

Chester Gould Dick Tracy Daily Comic Strip Christmas Episode Original Art dated 12-25-45 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1945). Detective Tracy, gaunt but rallying after an ordeal of inflicted starvation, chows down on Christmas dinner while his fellow lawmen ponder the harrowing events of 1945. Only one raveled thread remains from the year's police cases -- the fate of a colorful hillbilly miscreant named B.O. Plenty. But wait -- could a trace of Plenty lie floating in a nearby sewer? (Hint: Gould had become so attached to Plenty that he planned to rework the rascal into a goofy supporting character. Here is an early transitional stage in that unusual long-term development.) Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 19.5" x 6". Toning and handling wear commensurate with age. Very Good condition.
From the Ray Edw Collection.
