Description

Charlie Plumb Ella Cinders Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-2 (United Feature Syndicate, 1932). Ella Cinders usually dealt in soap-operatic business and quirky wit, but here Plumb concentrates on outright villainy and an unexpected element of revenge. The bad guy seems to have made good a seagoing escape -- only to find a near-forgotten victim approaching. Atmospherically drawn, with typically expressive faces in every panel. No formal dating as to precise year (with the copyright bug partially torn away), but a reverse note suggests 1932. Another reverse note indicates prior ownership of the composition by a cartooning contemporary, Morris Weiss. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 22" x 5". Very Good condition.
