Description

Charlie Plumb Ella Cinders Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 6-18-42 (United, 1942). This beautifully composed and whiplash-paced episode of Plumb's classic strip shows the influence of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" in the depiction of a Scrooge-like businessman who considers laughter a firing offense. The punchline is a gem. A beautiful, emphatic pen-line, with brushwork employed for reading momentum in the solid-black areas. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 22" x 6". Light toning. Vertical crease at midpoint. Excellent condition.
