Charles Schulz Peanuts Third Frieda Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 3-8-61 (United Features Syndicate, 1961). Frieda's winning ways have charmed Linus, and has she mentioned that she also has "naturally curly hair?" Charles Schulz often based his gags and characters on people and events from his private life. As quoted in David Michaelis' book, Schulz and Peanuts A Biography, Hal Lamson, an Art Instruction school co-worker of Frieda Rich, observed that when Frieda put her elbows on Schulz's desktop, "She'd be resting on her elbows, the way the Peanuts character rest their elbows on the stone wall while they talk...When she sat at her desk chair...her legs would be straight out, just the way Schroeder would be when he played the piano." The image area of this heartwarming episode measures approximately 27" x 5.5", and it has been matted and framed to an overall size of 31" x 10". Aside from the usual fold between panels two and three, the art is in Excellent condition. From the Frieda Rich Collection.
