    Description

Charles Schulz Peanuts Snoopy Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-1-53 (United Feature Syndicate, 1953). Turnabout is fair play in this rib-tickling daily starring Snoopy, as a puppy. Charles Schulz commented about the development of Snoopy -- "I'd always been drawing little dogs in the [Li'l Folks] strip, so I named one Snoopy, the one I would be using the most. The real dog who was the forerunner of Snoopy was named Spike. He was bigger than the beagle that Snoopy turned out to be, but he was kind of a wild dog marked in a way similar to Snoopy." Part of the charm of this early example is the much more naturalistic behavior of the beloved beagle. This daily has an image area of 27" x 5". Aside from the usual fold between panels two and three, and a few scattered stains, the art is in Very Good condition.
