Charles Schulz (as Sparky) Li'l Folks Comic Strip Original Art (St. Paul Pioneer Press, c. 1947-1950). Charles Schulz's first comic strip was a weekly gag panel that featured small children and occasionally a beagle puppy with black ears. Sound familiar? This example has the prototype for Snoopy. The series also had three different boys referred to as "Charlie Brown," so the strip served to provide his prototype as well as a few other Peanuts regulars. Many of these gags ran in the Saturday Evening Post in that magazine's heyday. This cartoon was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 11" x 14". The logo is a stat paste-up that has discolored slightly. The logo credits the piece to "Sparky". This was Schulz's nickname, and he would often sign as such when autographing something for a close personal friend. The reverse side of the board has Schulz's home address from this time, when he was living with his father above his father's barber shop. In Excellent condition.More information about Charles Schulz, also known as Schulz, Charles, Charles Schulz, Schulz, Charles Monroe.
