    Description

Burne Hogarth Tarzan #981 Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-25-49 (King Features Syndicate, 1949). One heck of a Christmas Day present! A stunning piece, as you would well expect, from Burne Hogarth. Check out the shadows and details on the Chief's face in that first panel. Then note the depth of field and perspective in Panel 3, framed by that lush jungle and bird. Lastly, notice the dynamic body positions in Panel 5. In this episode, Mabuli, the chief of the Dagombas, has decreed that the white Doctors may stay... but only if Tarzan is there to keep an eye on them. And Cleveland seems the type to keep an eye on! Truly a fantastic Sunday, as created in ink and red ink key lines over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 27.5" x 18.5". The toned board has some soiling and marks on it. The paper paste-up logo has glue residue stains near it. In Good condition.
