Burne Hogarth Tarzan #636 Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-16-43 (United Feature Syndicate, 1943). This episode titled "Vanquished" is from the story arc "Tarzan and the Barbarians", and features the Jungle King being captured and a prize jewel stolen! Gorgeously rendered in ink and red ink key lines over graphite on oversized Bristol board with an image area of 19.5" x 26.5". Of note: The Tarzan head in the logo panel is actually original art. It then became part of the logo/masthead and was used for a long time after. The art was hand-colored by Hogarth in April of 1994 (just two years before his death), when it was signed and personalized to Danton Burroughs (grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs) in the logo panel. The colors are bright and vibrant. The original logo stat is ripped and coming un-stuck. It has been matted out to 25.75" x 32.5". In Excellent condition.
