Description

Bud Fisher Mutt and Jeff Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-25-16 (H.C. Fisher, 1916). The hand of the cartoonist himself appears in the closing panel -- breaking the Fourth Wall to censor an imaginary nude scene. While undated on the strip itself, a handwritten note on the back cites May 25, establishing this piece as well over a century old. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 28.25" x 8". Pinholes and some chipping at the edges, with parallel horizontal-diagonal stain-lines at panels 2-5. Good condition. From the Allan Holtz Collection.
