Bob Lubbers Robin Malone Sunday Comic Strip Original Art and Color Guide dated 7-28-68 (NEA, 1968). The lovely and dynamic Robin Malone goes through a multitude of emotions on this Sunday, as she is being blackmailed in to marriage. That Dartmoor Dash is a dirty-dealer, but Robin has a few cards up her sleeve as well. Lubber's art on this series was nothing short of impressive. Gorgeous backgrounds and sets, paired with lovely women and devilishly handsome men, all set with twisting plots made for a fun adventure. Crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 24" x 16". The board has been folded in thirds vertically to allow mailing to the syndicate. The back of the board has many of his original graphite layouts and initial pencil work. The logo is a stat paste-up. Comes with the hand-colored color guide, which has color call-out notations on it. Both are in Very Good condition. From the Estate of Bob Lubbers.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
