    Description

Bob Lubbers Robin Malone Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 5 (NEA Service, Inc., 1968). Lubbers' long association with Al Capp (on Li'l Abner and Long Sam) shows vividly in this satirical solo-artist selection. Most of the pieces depict Robin Malone bring approached as candidate for President of the U.S.A. The story is a takeoff on the ancient Grecian comedy Lysistrata, involving a rebellion by women. Dates (all 1968) are 3-15, 3-19 through 3-21 and 3-28. Created in ink over graphite on Duotone board with image areas of approximately 15.25" x 4.5". A nice hidden bonus is that many of these bear Lubbers' rough drafts on the reverse, as he would lightbox them through for final pencil work. Some have painted white retouching, light toning and smudges, and one panel has staples in the top margin from production. Overall in Very Good condition. From the Estate of Bob Lubbers.
