Bob Lubbers Robin Malone Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group of 5 (NEA Service, Inc., 1968). Lubbers' long association with Al Capp (on Li'l Abner and Long Sam) shows vividly in this satirical solo-artist selection. Most of the pieces depict Robin Malone as a reluctant candidate for President of the U.S.A. Her manipulative manager seems almost a close relative of Li'l Abner's General Bullmoose. The story is a takeoff on the ancient Grecian comedy Lysistrata, involving a rebellion by women. The fifth item comes from a later storyline involving a seagoing adventure. Dates (all 1968) are 3-27, 4-12, 4-13, 4-15, and 7-10. Ink over graphite on Duotone board with image areas of approximately 15.25" x 4.5". A nice hidden bonus is that many of these bear Lubbers' rough drafts on the reverse, as he would lightbox them through for final pencil work. Some have painted white retouching. In overall Excellent condition. From the Estate of Bob Lubbers.
