Description

Bob Lubbers Long Sam Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-1-61 (United Feature Syndicate, 1961). Our glamorous heroine, Long Sam, is involved in circus shenanigans in this Sunday by Bob Lubbers and writer Al Capp, who had based Sam (loosely) on one of Capp's more colorful Li'l Abner characters, Strange Gal, and developed Sam's adventures into one of the finest adventure-romance strips ever to see the light of the funnypapers. Long Sam also generated a popular song, "Lonesome and Disgusted," issued in 1956. By the time of this episode, Capp's brother, Elliot Caplin, had taken charge of the writing. Sheer brilliance, preserved in ink (over graphite) on Bristol board, with an image area of 22.5" x 15.25". Light toning, handling wear. Very Good condition.
From the Estate of Bob Lubbers.
