    Description

Billy DeBeck Barney Google "Spark Plug" Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-12 (King Features, c. 1920s). Spark Plug wasn't the only horse in Barney's stable -- there was also Pony Boy, who apparently thought of himself as a dog, as seen in this wild daily. Spark Plug's first appearance on July 17th, 1922, helped make Barney Google an international hit, with millions closely following his first race. This great example has Spark Plug in the first panel, decked out in his customary blanket, and has an approximate image area of 17.5" x 4.5", matted and Plexiglas framed to an overall 24" x 10.5". It's in Excellent condition. From The Art of the Funnies Collection.
