Bill Mauldin "Mrs. Xoptl..." Editorial Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-15-59 (St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 1959). In the era of Sputnik, US fears of the Soviet space program were very prevalent. This humorous editorial cartoon depicts what many Americans feared, a Soviet-first moon landing. This lovely and light-hearted piece is produced in ink and Conte crayon over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 16". Slight tanning, and some slight edge/corner creases. Overall in Excellent condition. From the Bill Mauldin Collection.
